Welcome to the Home of Spartan Youth Baseball
Spartan Youth Baseball was formerly known as Groner Summer Baseball. We have changed our name in order to better identify with our Hilhi boundary as we now include all feeder schools into Hilhi.
We participate in the Washington County JBO League and promote baseball for kinders through 8th grade.
Spartan Youth Baseball Boundary
Participants must live or go to school in the Hillsboro High School feeder boundaries. Note: not JUST the Hillsboro School District. The boundaries can be found here under "Feeder School Maps" on the left-hand side of the web page. If you live within the boundaries for Groner Elementary, Farmington View Elementary, Rosedale Elementary, Witch Hazel Elementary, Minter Bridge Elementary, Brookwood Elementary, WL Henry Elementary, or South Meadows Middle School, you should play baseball with Spartan Youth Baseball.

Evaluations were held March 10 at Hare Field (Try Outs)
If you are signed up, but couldn't make the try out, please contact us to arrange a private or alternative try out time/date.
For those that came to the evaluations, thank you. We saw some great ball players and we loved their attitude and effort - Great job everyone. Teams will be formed and the players/parents will be notified within the next week or two.
Most JBO teams are filled, however, if you would like to get on a waiting list to see if someone drops out or if an opening comes up, please contact us.
Volunteers Needed
Like most volunteer organizations, we rely on parents and community members to step up to help by coaching, assistant coaching, becoming a board member, doing field preparation, fund raising, score keeping, and basic scheduling and logistic assistance. We are a growing organization and can use all types of positive individuals who have skills, experience, time and/or energy to assist us. Please email any interest to Greg Mitzel and/or Mark Littlejohn. Thank You!
Congratulations to the Groner 2011 Senior American Washington County JBO League Champions and 3rd Place JBO Championship
All JBO Groner teams made the post season last year, with the Sr American Team making the JBO Championship tournament (formerly the JBO State tournament). The team went undefeated, with two ties, during regular league play and got ready for the StateTournament by playing 5 tournaments during the year, winning one in Sherwood and enjoying two wood bat Federal tournaments. In the Championship Tournament, after a first round bye, Groner started strong, winning their first two games, then lost to eventual champion, West Linn, and then lost to Central to take third. The two Central games were the best games of the year with each coming down to 1 run (one win and one loss). Congrats to the graduating 8th graders as they had a great run, making the state tournament 3 of the last 4 years, including a 2nd place finish when in 5th grade, a seventh place finish in 7th grade, and a third place finish in 2011.
Groner finished a strong run with the past 6 years having 5 State Tournament team qualifiers finishing with 1 second place finish, 2 third place finishes, and a seventh place finish. Looking forward to 2012!
